Customer feedback leaked: what it means and what to do

Risk level: low. Can you change it: no. Found in 2 breaches in this directory.

What this data is

Survey responses, star ratings, product reviews, complaints and comments you sent to a company, usually stored with your account, order or contact details.

The risk on its own

Low risk for most people. Feedback cannot log in to or pay for anything. It mostly records your opinion of a product or service.

The risk combined with other data

With your name and email, a detailed complaint can reveal your circumstances, such as a health issue behind a product return or a dispute over money. It also shows a scammer exactly what you are unhappy about. A complaint about a refund that never arrived is the perfect hook for a fake refund call.

How criminals use it

  • A scammer contacts you about the complaint you made, offers the refund you asked for and requests remote access or banking details to process it.
  • A negative review is traced back to your real name and used to harass you.
  • Survey answers about your household, health or income add detail to a marketing or scam profile.

What to do now

  1. Be suspicious of any contact about an old complaint or refund, and respond only through the company's official website or app.
  2. Never give remote access or bank login details to receive a refund. Genuine refunds go back to the original payment method.
  3. Change the password on the account the feedback was attached to if you used it anywhere else.
  4. Leave personal circumstances out of future surveys, and post public reviews under a name that is not your full name.

Frequently asked questions

Is leaked feedback a real risk?

Usually a small one. The main danger is a fake refund or complaint follow up that uses details only the real company should know.

How do refund scams work?

The caller offers money you are owed, then asks for remote access to your computer or your banking login to send it. A real refund never needs either.

Can I delete my reviews and survey answers?

Most platforms let you delete your own reviews, and you can ask the company to erase survey responses linked to your account.
