Data removal. Updated 2026-09-13. About 4 minutes to read.
Request removal for each TruePeopleSearch record, click the confirmation link within 24 hours, finish the second form, and search again every 90 days.
TruePeopleSearch is a free US people-search site that shows names, ages, addresses, phone numbers, email addresses and relatives without a paywall. It supports search by name, phone number, email and street address, so one detail about you can lead a stranger to the rest.
Removing a record is free and takes about five minutes, but it has a time limit that catches people out: the confirmation link in the email expires after 24 hours. Do the whole process in one sitting, one record at a time, and you will not need to start again.
A record can show your full name and aliases, age and sometimes date of birth, current and previous addresses, phone numbers with the carrier type, email addresses, relatives, associates and property details. The site says its data comes from thousands of public record sources. Those include property and court records, phone and address directories, and data collected from other public websites.
Because the site is free, it is widely used for quick lookups on a phone number that just called or a name from a dating app. That makes it one of the first sites to clear if you are worried about someone finding your address.
Look-alike domains exist. In 2024 KrebsOnSecurity investigated TruePeopleSearch.net, a different site from TruePeopleSearch.com that was part of a separate network of people-search sites. Check the address bar before you enter your email into any removal form.
The site already holds your phone number and address. Giving the one it asks for helps it match the right record. Use an email alias so the request does not add your main inbox to its files.
Most records drop within 72 hours of the second form. Some removal services have reported waits of up to 45 days, which matches the deadline many US state privacy laws give companies to answer a deletion request. If a record is still up after two weeks, submit the request again and keep the confirmation emails.
If you live in a state with a consumer privacy law and your request is ignored, you can complain to your state attorney general. Californians can also send a single deletion request to every registered data broker through DROP at privacy.ca.gov/drop.
TruePeopleSearch covers US residents. If you live in Australia, the UK or Canada and have a US history, remove any US records. For local companies, use local law: the Privacy Act 1988 access and correction rights with complaints to the OAIC in Australia, the UK GDPR right to erasure with complaints to the ICO, and PIPEDA with complaints to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada. The free data broker opt-out tracker on this site lists the sites that matter in each country.
Yes. There is no charge, no account and no ID upload. You need an email address and, on the second form, a phone number and either your date of birth or address.
Start again from the removal form with the same record. The link is only valid for 24 hours, so open the email and finish the second form straight away.
They look alike and use similar removal forms, but they operate as separate sites with separate removal lists. Removing yourself from one does not remove you from the other.
New public records can rebuild a record that is not linked to your earlier removal. Search again every 90 days and after any move, and remove any new record.
