What happened
In August 2021, an allegation was made that the Brazilian fast food company "Habib's" had suffered a data breach that was later redistributed as part of a larger corpus of data. Upon thorough investigation, parent company Gennius concluded that the information in the breach was not related to any databases that hold their customers' personal information and had been misattributed to Habib's. The corpus of data contained 3.5M unique email addresses along with IP addresses, names, phone numbers, dates of birth and links to social media profiles.

What was exposed
Dates of birth: Your full birth date, day, month and year, collected at signup for age checks, identity verification, insurance quotes, birthday offers or government services.
Email addresses: The email address you used to register or log in. It is the most common field in breaches because it doubles as your username on most sites.
IP addresses: The network addresses your devices used when you signed up, logged in or posted, recorded by almost every website in its access logs.
Names: Your first name, surname and sometimes middle name or initials, as you gave them when you signed up. It appears in almost every breach because nearly every account asks for it.
Phone numbers: Your mobile or landline number, collected at signup for contact, delivery updates, marketing and two-factor codes.
Social media profiles: Usernames, profile URLs or handles for social networks such as Facebook, Instagram, X, TikTok, LinkedIn or Discord, stored alongside another account.
