What happened
In early 2023, the "mutual masturbation" website CityJerks suffered a data breach that exposed 177k unique email addresses. The breach also included data from the TruckerSucker "dating app for REAL TRUCKERS and REAL MEN" with the combined corpus of data also exposing usernames, IP addresses, dates of birth, sexual orientations, geo locations, private messages between members and passwords stored as salted MD5 hashes. The data was subsequently listed on a public hacking site.

What was exposed
Bios: The free text about me section you wrote for a profile on a dating app, forum, social network, gaming platform or professional site.
Dates of birth: Your full birth date, day, month and year, collected at signup for age checks, identity verification, insurance quotes, birthday offers or government services.
Email addresses: The email address you used to register or log in. It is the most common field in breaches because it doubles as your username on most sites.
Geographic locations: A general location recorded on your account, such as a country, state, city, postcode or region, either typed in by you or estimated from your IP address.
IP addresses: The network addresses your devices used when you signed up, logged in or posted, recorded by almost every website in its access logs.
Passwords: The secret you use to sign in, stored by the breached service either in plain text, in a scrambled form called a hash, or encrypted. How it was stored decides how quickly it can be recovered.
Private messages: Direct messages, chats and inbox conversations on a platform, which can include photos, links, attachments, addresses, phone numbers and details you shared expecting only one person to read.
Profile photos: The main picture on your account, usually a real photo of your face on dating, professional, social and messaging services.
Sexual orientations: Information about who you are attracted to, such as gay, lesbian, bisexual or heterosexual, recorded by dating apps, surveys, health services, social platforms or community organisations.
Usernames: The handle or login name you chose for an account, which may be public on forums, games and social platforms or used privately to sign in.
